Each one of our world renowned barrier islands will captivate you with its diverse lifestyles and natural charm. You can choose from six very distinctive islands communities located off the Western Coast of Sarasota. The Barrier Islands also know as Keys, are surrounded by two bodies of water the Intracoastal Waterway to the East, and the Gulf of Mexico to the West. Five of the barrier islands bordering the Gulf of Mexico have beachfront property along its western shoreline which includes Longboat Key, Lido Key, Siesta Key, Casey Key and Manasota Key creating a 35 linear miles stretch of beachfront property. Accessing the keys is done by numerous bridges connection from the Sarasota mainland. The Northern most connection is the John Ringling Causeway Bridge connection, or the Gil Waters Bridge connection; it connects Downtown Sarasota to Bird Key, Lido Key, and Longboat Key. Moving south there’s Siesta Key, Casey Key, and Manasota Key each with two bridge connections. The cost of living on these keys is much higher than living on the mainland. You’ll pay a premium price for the land, your property tax and insurance will be higher, but ask anyone living on a key and they’ll tell you that the benefits far out weighs the cost.
